On May 27th, The first MIT-Ningbo Supply Chain Management (MNSCM) program students of NSCIIC have graduated. Seven graduates recieved the Graduate Certificate in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from the MIT Global SCALE Network. Professor Yossi Sheffi, the Director of the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL) and the Honorary Director of NSCIIC; Prof. Shaoxuan Liu, the Director of NISCI; all students from the classes of 2017-2019 and their families presented to witness this memorable moment.
The Honorary Director of NISCI, Professor Yossi Sheffi flew from Boston to attend this ceremony. As one of the most authoritative leaders in the filed of global supply chain and logistics. He shared his own experience and understandings to the graduates: “Nowadays, it is easy to find old knowledge on Internet and come up with one’s own design, which can be even more sufficient. However, building a supply chain takes a lot of work and time, which cannot be easily copied or replaced. In the other word, in the contemporary society, product itself is no longer the core competitive advantage, but supply chain is. After the graduation, you will join a more elite group, the alumni of MIT SCALE Network, which has about 12,00 graduates from six centers every year. You can bond and develop a huge interpersonal relationship network with them. So, congratulations, you choose the right major, in the right time at the right place.”
Director Shaoxuan Liu gave a speech afterward. He extended congratulations and wishes to the graduates on behalf of all faculties and staffs of NISCI. He used four key words to summarize graduates’ past two years in NISCI——Cooperation, Innovation, Persistence and Breakthrough. “As you may recall, in the speech I made at the very start of the MNSCM program, I called upon you to become NISCI’s first generation of success. Today, as you begin a brand new chapter in your lives, may the knowledge and skills imparted by NISCIaid you in fulfilling your ambitions. I wish you all the best in your future career. May you become the benchmark of success future classes will aspire to.”
Mr. Weimin Wang, the Deputy Director of Ningbo Education Bureau, expressed his sincere congratulations to the seven graduates, he said: “Today’s graduation ceremony proves that MNSCM program is a successful talent training model. The enrollment in this program this year has hit a new high, this is the result of the joint efforts of China and the United States, which also proves that NISCI has made periodic achievements in talent training, faculty building, scientific research and industrial cooperation.”
After that, graduate representative Xundi Bian expressed her heartful thanks to NISCI, she maintained that the past two years are too short, because everything is amazing and memorable. They have the luxury to have the facilities from MIT and NISCI, which gives them a cutting edge understanding of Supply Chain Management. It is challenging but they all realized that the hard time made them grow faster.
Then came the most exciting moment the graduates had been looking forward to – Issuing the certificate, Professor Shaoxuan Liu and Professor Yossi Sheffi jointly issue the Graduate Certificate in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from the MIT Global SCALE Network to the graduates.
