Overall Description of Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and deploying Machine Learning models for transportation and logistics systems operations. For instance, vessel ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) prediction for a Logistics Service Provider (LSP). SCI publications are expected per project. The candidate is encouraged to propose his/her own research topics and apply for funding independently. Mixed Machine LearningOptimization profiles are particularly desired

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
• PhD in Computer Science, Operations Research, Management Science, Transportation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python or Julia.
• At least 2 years of experience in prototyping machine learning models.
• At least 2 years of experience in Scikit-learn, Keras/TensorFlow/PyTorch or similar
• Proficiency in data analytics: data cleaning, data visualization, feature engineering.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Proven ability to work independently within a research lab.
Desirable:
• Good SCI publication record.
• Experience in bringing ML models into production.
• Experience in Mixed Integer Linear Programming (i.e. CPLEX, Gurobi), Dynamic Programming or other.
combinatorial optimization methods.
• Experience in development of exact solution procedures (branch-and-price; branch-and-bound; etc.) and heuristic solution procedures. • Competency in SQL or non-SQL databases.
